Devin the (traded) Dude?

PaulIt always makes me smile when the well-oiled machine of secrets that is the NBA finds a way to slip up. I mean, I don’t want anything horrible to happen to the NBA, as David Robinson once said in a cheesy NBA promo piece.. “I really LOVE this GAME!”.

But seeing the Minnesota Timberwolves leak information about a trade that never happened, just makes me smile.

What doesn’t make me smile is New Orleans’ front office, who seemingly have no people skills whatsoever. What does Devin Brown think of all this? No matter how he handles the media tonight before lacing them up against the Heat, one has to wonder how many more poorly handled transactions will come out of Bourbon Street.

Last season’s “move” of Tyson Chandler was a disgrace. Admittedly, it was the Oklahoma City Thunder who denied the physical in the end, but to quote a favorite of mine Hubie Brown… “C’mon!” The guy went back to New Orleans and just had to “fit back in”.

Not ideal.

Now I know what you’re thinking, “it was the Timberwolves who screwed up!” and you’d be right. But why do these things always involve the Hornets? I’m starting to think Gordon Ramsay is running that place…

It wouldn't surprise me if Gordon Ramsay is currently holding down a job at the Hornets as PR Manager or VP of Basketball Operations.

I’ll tell you one person who has seen all of this folly and can’t be impressed, and that’s Chris Paul. The 6 foot “Capt’n Crunch” of the NBA may well be looking for a new home soon and the Hornets front office isn’t exactly putting it’s best foot forward when it comes to handling personnel. They are looking to dump salary and that’s not where Championships happen.

Watch this space… it’s safe to say the Hornets will have a different-looking roster come late February.
